Genius or Junk?

There were times, during Delora's recent visit to the Marqués de Riscal Winery in the Rioja region of Spain, when she thought that the inn, designed by Frank O. Geary, was pure genius.  The way that the undulating metal panels reflected the sun, and the pale purple, gold and silver hues echoed the colors of the wine and the packaging was inspiring.

Then again, there were times, when Delora caught a glimpse of this same genius out of the corner of her eye and thought:  Damn if that doesn't look like a treehouse that some red-neck neighbor banged together for his kid.

Did you ever turn soda cans into strip art? Possibly in high school? Or summer camp? I seeem to vaguely remember a somewhat dangerous draft involving a can opener...but then again, maybe I'm "remembering" some scene from a movie? The lines of reality and entertainment are blurred for many. Just please wake me up if I start thinking I a housewife from New York..or Orange County...or especially New Jersey.

It may look like a bunch of soda cans in the midst of a 14th century village but they sure make good vino tinto.

I am glad Deb/Delora finally outted you KK. Jersey is a wonderful place to be from...............

This structure looks like it is three quarters genius and one quarter junk.

Glad to see you're not leaving any stones unturned in Spain. Sounds like you and Gilman are enjoying a very long second honeymoon! Save some vino tinto for me, i might just have to visit before you leave...

you always make me laugh when I read your blog. Somehow I seem to be able to crawl behind your eyes and try to interpret both visual and mental processing. Scary, scary, very scary, it is what you want it to be. Was one thought before Vino and the other after Vino?

Just what did you really think when you were at the Guggenheim or Balboa?... I ain't seen nothing, I know nothing.
Much love,
R

Hi, just a quick note - You spelt the architect's name wrong - its Gehry! The Museum which he did in Bilbao is just as spectacular!
